Eagle Aid tops £100,000 mark
The Directors of Charles Wells Ltd have made £20,000 available through our charitable donation scheme, Eagle Aid in 2009. This brings the total amount donated to charity since the scheme was launched to over £100,000.
Licensees within the Charles Wells Pub Company estate have determined where this money is distributed and are using the scheme to make a real difference in their community. Quite simply, the pot of £20,000 has been divided equally between every pub in the Charles Wells estate that registered a charitable nomination.
Everyone taking part has been asked to talk to their customers to find out what fundraising initiatives matter most to them and how much they can do to improve the lives of those around them. A fundraising pack is provided to help them raise additional funds, with each retailer being asked to join forces with their regulars and raise an extra £250 for their charity.
By organising fundraising events, licensees give their regulars a reason to visit the pub and unite for a good cause and charitable events are just a part of a great pub experience that keeps people coming back for more.
Thanks to the efforts and generosity of our licensees and their customers last year, the Eagle Aid community chest of £20,000 was more than doubled in the donations made to local charities.
We look forward to an even greater response in 2009.
