CHARLES WELLS PUB COMPANY ‘CRISP’ IS FLAVOUR OF THE MONTH

CRISP, the Charles Wells Retail Induction Support Programme, is the flavour of the month, after winning a prestigious BII NITA just three weeks after a highly prized Bedfordshire Business accolade.

The NITAs are the only nationally recognised training awards within the licensed retail sector and winning a BII NITA is the ultimate endorsement of training excellence. CRISP won the best licensee induction programme in non-managed estates after being developed from the company’s existing format and running for just five months.

Anthony Wallis, Managing Director of Charles Wells Pub Company commented “CRISP is the culmination of a lot of research, hard work and dedication by a group of cross-functional staff and existing licensees to provide the induction content that prospective licensees are looking for. We are committed to providing exceptional customer service to our retailers and the induction process is one of a number of changes we’ve introduced this year in response to customer demand.”

CRISP is a five day programme which is compulsory for all retailers wishing to take a Charles Wells pub tenancy or lease. It provides a comprehensive introduction to running a pub and offers practical help, advice and qualifications. It’s tailored specifically to Charles Wells Pub Company so that prospective licensees get to know the company, its people and operating style from the start and recognition in the NITAs reflects the impact the programme is already having.

“Within our strategy of delivering the vision of becoming ‘First Choice for Customers and Consumers’, we recognise that it’s essential to attract the best, and right, people to run our pubs. Our commitment to them is to ensure they have the tools and training to build trade and develop long-term sustainable businesses” continued Anthony Wallis. “We want to provide the best possible support to our retailers – and that starts from the word go with the CRISP programme.”

“For anyone who’s never run a pub before” continued Wallis, “CRISP also offers an opportunity to spend time with one of our existing retailers. These mentors are a crucial element of the scheme, showing what’s involved in the bar, kitchen and back office and raising operational questions for newcomers to think about. They’ll offer further advice from their own experience and give a realistic insight into running a pub before any commitment is made and we’re indebted to the enthusiasm and support they provide in encouraging their peers.”

Announcement of the BII NITA follows hot on the heels of success in The Bedfordshire and Luton Business Excellence Award for Business Training and demonstrates that Charles Wells Pub Company is achieving its vision of becoming ‘First Choice for Customers and Consumers’ through its focus on providing excellent customer service.
