Lucky 13th for Charles Wells Pub Company
The Dog and Badger in Maulden, Bedfordshire, has proved to be lucky 13 for Charles Wells Pub Company, as it becomes their 13th pub acquisition in the calendar year.

The village site has an excellent reputation for offering fresh food and a range of cask ales. The former freehold outlet has a restaurant providing 75 covers, a bar area and enclosed garden.
“We were particularly impressed with the food offering at the Dog and Badger” explained Anthony Wallis. “The emphasis on fresh food is a great example of the pursuit of excellence we strive for in all of our pubs and we are now looking for an imaginative lessee to continue and develop this area of customer service.”
A formal offer was made for the site just three days after viewing and the acquisition was completed in six weeks. “It was a pleasure to work with the vendor and we achieved a straightforward, swift and discrete transfer” continued Wallis. “We’re pleased that the staff have chosen to remain with the business as believes there is scope for further growth and look forward to working with a new lessee as the pub becomes first choice for consumers in the area.”
Acquisition of The Dog and Badger comes just a month after Charles Wells Pub Company purchased The Golden Ball Hotel in Boxworth, Cambridgeshire. The company bought 11 outlets from Traditional Freehouses at the beginning of 2007 and will continue its acquisitions drive into 2008.
