EVERYTHING COMING UP ROSES AS BAXTERLEY PUB CELEBRATES ANNIVERSARY

Tim Reilly and Sue Kirby are celebrating their second anniversary as licensees of The Rose Inn at Baxterley with the sweet smell of success.

After two years hard work at The Rose Inn, the couple have been included in The Good Beer Guide 2010 which is recognised as the definitive guide to finding the perfect pint. It’s the first time that the pub has featured in the guide since 1993 and is described as “a true drinkers’ pub… and the excellent Sunday carvery is recommended.” Visitors can taste four cask beers at the pub – Wells Bombardier, Young’s Special or Courage Directors, St Austell Tribute and Draught Bass – along with a wide range of other beers, ciders and wines.

“We’re absolutely thrilled” said Tim Reilly after being told that The Rose Inn was listed amongst the top cask beer pubs in the country. “When we took the pub over, we knew there was a massive amount to do to improve the offer for our customers and the quality of the beers was one of our top priorities. Serving a good pint is quite an art form and involves correct storage, temperature control and cleaning the beer pipes before you even get to the pouring stage that everyone can see at the bar. Being listed in the Good Beer Guide is real recognition that we have got things right and now we can really celebrate our second anniversary in style.”

Tim and Sue have both demonstrated their commitment to excellence by receiving the nationally recognised BIIAB Cellar Management and Award in Beer and Cellar Quality qualification and have also been Cask Marque accredited since 2005. Inclusion in the guide is the icing on the cake and reinforces the pubs position as a traditional country inn, offering something for everyone but never compromising on quality.

Peter Wells, Sales and Marketing Director of Charles Wells Pub Company who bought the site in June commented “The Rose Inn is a beautiful pub in a fantastic location and Tim and Sue work tirelessly to provide a great pub experience for their customers. They ran a very successful Beer Festival in April, when they had 15 beers available, all served in optimum condition and it’s this attention to detail that has earned them a deserved place in the Good Beer Guide.”

The Rose Inn is open 12-3pm and 7pm-11pm weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday and Tim, Sue and their staff offer everyone a warm welcome. They hope that their national recognition will encourage more people to discover the pub and sample the quality beer and the excellent homemade specialities and steaks for themselves.
