The Fleur de Lis town centre pub bubbles back to life

The Fleur de Lis in Mill Street, Bedford is now in the hands of chef and successful businessman Eric Welek.

Eric owns the Tudor Oaks Lodge and restaurant on the A1 and has brought his entrepreneurial expertise to bear in deciding on a new look, and new menu at this great town centre pub.

The freshest fish, the best beef and the lightest lamb will be on the main menu day and night - while those looking for a light lunch or post-work snack will be able to enjoy some delicious seafood and champagne (pink too) by the cut crystal glass, in the new Oyster & Champagne Bar. Those looking for a more traditional pub food will also be well catered for too.

Manageress and front of house will be Emma Watson, who will be a welcome sight to those who knew her as part of the team at other successful venues in town. She is looking forward to welcoming her customers to this more sophisticated Fleur de Lis.

From lobsters, oysters and specially smoked fish, to home made pies and roasts this will be a place for people to head towards during the day and when they are thinking of a meal in the evening.

There will be a good range of real ales with changing guest ales for those who enjoy a good beer. Eric is a long standing member of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and knows how to keep a good pint - the Tudor Oaks Lodge has reguarly been in the East Beds good beer guide.

A fantastic new wine menu has been developed at The Fleur De Lis, by Suzy Spilling Wine Development Manager for Charles Wells Ltd. The well balanced wine menu will compliment the food, the beer and the new style of the pub.

Charles Wells Pub Company Retail Development Manager Colin Spilling, who is a familiar face to anyone in the pub and club trade having worked, at Charles Wells for more than a decade, said:

"It is great to be able to tap into Eric’s undoubted talent as a man who understands how to make a restaurant work. He will serve our award-winning beer such as Wells Bombardier, in the best possible condition so they can be appreciated by everyone."

Peter Wells Director of family-owned Charles Wells Ltd, which owns the pub said: "We are delighted to welcome Eric in to our estate and very much look forward to this exciting new venture with him at The Fleur de Lis. Charles Wells remains at its heart a local business - one which employs many Bedford people and is now investing hundreds of thousands in our local estate. This venture will therefore be a great boost for local people as they enjoy the food and drink served at The Fleur De Lis."
