KARAOKE STAR FINDS HEAVEN IN CHARLES WELLS PUB COMPANY COMPETITION
A customer of The Bramingham public house in Luton, Laura beat 12 other finalists for the coveted title, and won a weeks’ holiday for two in Majorca for her performance on the night. She also sang an ambitious and dazzling rendition of Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ which left the huge audience in amazement. It was the second year running that The Bramingham had produced the winning entry and, as host of the 2007 final, Laura ensured that the home crowd could celebrate in style. “This is the 9th year that we’ve held our annual karaoke competition” explained Mandy Black, Head of Marketing at Charles Wells Pub Company “and the standard of entries has just got better and better. When we plan our promotional schedule, we look carefully at how we can help attract more people into our licensees’ pubs to develop their businesses and karaoke remains a strong favourite with a loyal and enthusiastic fan base.” The 13 finalists each performed two songs and their performances were marked by a panel of independent judges, taking into account vocal excellence, presentation & performance, star quality and entertainment value. Shelley from The Ship, Bedford took the runner up cash prize of £200 and third place Kerry from The Prince Albert, Milton Keynes claimed a cash prize of £100 in the competition which was generously sponsored by Smirnoff Ice.
