IL MASCHIO @ THE STAG LAUNCHES RIDE TO THE HORNS
British-Mediterranean restaurant, Il Maschio @ The Stag, has launched their newest summer initiative – the Ride to the Horns cycling day for charity.
On Sunday, August 17 three rides of varying length and difficulty will start and finish at the restaurant in the picturesque village of Mentmore (near Leighton Buzzard on the Bedfordshire/ Buckinghamshire border), while the village green will host stalls and fun activities for the family throughout the day.
Get a team together and test yourself against Australian F1 star for Red Bull Racing and cycling enthusiast, Mark Webber, who will be tackling the most difficult ride. Or bring the family along for a shorter ride and a fun day out in the village.
The three rides departing from the restaurant have been designed to suit all abilities and range from an 85 mile, 50 mile and a 7 mile course for families.
The routes are based around the north Chilterns with the 85-miler featuring such climbs as Whiteleaf, The Crong and Ivinghoe Beacon. The 50 mile route will be less testing but offers a great ‘come and try’ first sportive with a small sample of the bigger climbs on a two lap route. The family route is a nice country ride on quiet roads in the area. All rides start and finish at Il Maschio.
Local radio station, Mix 96 will be entertaining the crowd during the day, Phil Corley Cycles and Madison Cycles will be on hand to service bikes and local farm shops and gift companies will have stalls on the village green to browse. Drinks and food will be provided by Il Maschio.
All profits from the ride and trade village will go to the local charity The PACE Centre in Aylesbury, with a small portion being donated to the village church roof fund.
Entries for the rides are limited so we suggest you reserve your place as soon as possible to guarantee a great day out for all the family.
