Shakespeare makes it to number one in France
The Shakespeare pub in Montpellier has been voted top of a poll to find the best pub or bar in France in a competition organised by The Telegraph.
The Expat Best of British Awards recognise great British businesses around the world in categories that include Best Shop, Best Sporting Club and Best Restaurant as well as Pub/Bar.
The first round of online voting has now finished with the Best in Country being announced for each category. Whilst The Shakespeare was the winner, two other pubs from the John Bull Pub Company in France (a division of Charles Wells in UK) also scored highly. The London Town in Toulouse was Highly Commended and The Bombardier in Paris Commended.
The Shakespeare has now moved to the next stage of voting when readers are invited to choose the Best in the World. It’s one of 35 pubs vying for the category title and is hoping to wave the flag for John Bull Pub Company that aims to deliver a great British pub experience in France.
