The Plough in Towcester has New Hands at the Tiller

One of Towcester’s forgotten jewels, The Plough Inn on Watling Street is reopening on Friday 3rd July 2009, after a redevelopment with new, but experienced, hands at the tiller.

The Plough has a prime position in the market square area and has been upgraded to enable service of a quality home made food menu for local residents and visitors alike. New licensees Nick and Michele Hastings have already proved what a great pub experience they can deliver at their first venue – the Wooden Walls of Old England in nearby Collingtree, Northampton – and are now looking forward to creating a welcoming environment and great service at The Plough.

“Towcester has been missing a traditional pub with a reputation for great food, excellent beers, fantastic wines and a community spirit for some time” explained Nick Hastings. “We’ve been listening to what the locals want and believe that The Plough has something to offer them all and will be their first choice when it comes to picking their favourite local pub.”

As well as introducing food to the pub, the couple will also be improving their wine list to match and making more use of the garden/patio area with al fresco dining and an occasional beer festival. There’ll be a regular quiz night, team events, poker nights and a Sunday meat raffle is planned. Afternoon tea and cakes is an area Nick and Michele will look to expand in to and is expected to be a particular favourite of the local community!

The Plough is owned by award winning pub company, Charles Wells that has carried out the refurbishment in conjunction with Nick and Michele. “We’ve been very impressed with the professionalism, quality and customer service at their first pub” said Peter Wells, Sales and Marketing Director of Charles Wells “and we know that a similar approach will be very well received in Towcester. Nick and Michele will certainly stamp their own authority on the pub and it’ll be a great boost for The Plough to regain its rightful place within the heart of the town.”

The redevelopment work has included kitchen, storage and wash room upgrades to provide the facilities needed for the introduction of a quality food menu and the ground floor trading areas have all been redecorated to give The Plough a fresh and modern feel. Within the courtyard, wall mounted heating and lighting have been installed, together with a large umbrella so that customers can take advantage of external eating and drinking opportunities.
