The Cross Keys Hotel is 850 years old and set in the picturesque old market town of Saffron Walden, located approximately 25 minutes drive from Stansted Airport.
The property was used as a base by Oliver Cromwell during the Civil War but today is a friendly pub with rooms that offers clean comfortable and competitively priced accommodation in 6 letting rooms. Proudly known for serving good quality, value for money pub food including the famous sunday roasts, the pub also offers a good selection of cask ales, draught beers, plus a wide choice of wines by the bottle or glass.
The Cross Keys is reputed to be haunted by more than one friendly ghost, this charming old building is a fine example of the decorative exterior relief work known as 'pargeting' and has many interesting and original features inside, including the original beams, one of which is rumoured to be a tree the building was originally built around.

The Cross Keys has an extensive menu. Offering a high standard of traditional home cooked food, sourced from local shops and using local ingredients. Together with seasonal menus they provide daily special boards devised by a talented team of kitchen staff. The Cross Keys is happy to accept bookings for any occasion, including coach parties, although booking is highly recommended.
