Built in 1543 first licensed in 1743 The George Hotel is situated within the historic area of Castleton. A ghost, allegedly that of a young servant is reputed to haunt the inn along with many other apparitions.Today you will find a warm welcome from the landlords who will be pleased to share with you their extensive local knowledge. The pub itself has a traditional feel with stone floors, oak beams and decorative brass in keeping with its historical ties. It also has four well appointed letting rooms. The George is a lovely inn located in the popular tourist area of the Peak District National Park. Well kept ales are complimented by an excellent menu.
