Built in 1543 first licensed in 1743 The George Hotel is situated within the historic area of Castleton. A ghost, allegedly that of a young servant is reputed to haunt the inn along with many other apparitions.Today you will find a warm welcome from the landlords who will be pleased to share with you their extensive local knowledge. The pub itself has a traditional feel with stone floors, oak beams and decorative brass in keeping with its historical ties. It also has four well appointed letting rooms.
The George is a lovely inn located in the popular tourist area of the Peak District National Park. Well kept ales are complimented by an excellent menu. Here everyone is made to feel welcome, whether dining or just having a relaxing drink in the bar area. With a large restaurant designed and decorated in a traditional style, a large bar with several secluded seating areas for those wishing to enjoy the tranquil surroundings, and a fantastic family area, there is something for everyone here at the George.
