BII Pre Entry Awareness Training (PEAT)
PEAT is an e-learning package that identifies the main issues which need to be considered and investigated before signing a pub tenancy or lease agreement.
It is accredited by BIIAB, the Ofqual regulated awarding body which is part of BII, the professional body for the licensed retail industry.
If you are looking to take on any pub lease or tenancy in England or Wales then taking PEAT will give you the necessary knowledge to evaluate the agreement which you are seeking to enter as well as advising you of other issues that you may not be aware of.
Anyone wanting to take a Charles Wells pub on a tenancy or lease agreement will be expected to have successfully completed the PEAT module, in accordance with our Code of Practice, to familiarise themselves with the process and implications of signing a tied pub agreement. In the same way, we will also expect prospective licensees to seek professional advice before making a commitment, including financial and legal representation.
Who is PEAT for?
Prospective tenants/lessees who are considering signing a pub tenancy or lease agreement. PEAT is designed to ensure that you fully understand the implications of the pub tenancy or lease which you are considering signing.
It will give you an awareness of the tied pub model as well as provide information on business plans, the different types of agreements available, rental calculations, the legal consequences of breach of agreement and much more.
PEAT is an industry wide training module provided by the BII which Charles Wells Pub Company recognises as an important part of the initial research process for anyone who's considering taking their own pub.
What's involved?
PEAT is designed to be taken online. it will take approximately 2 hours to complete by following an interactive programme with mini quizzes throughout to test your knowledge. At the end of the training there is a short test to complete. On successful completion you will be provided with a BIIAB certificate. How to take PEAT
