Pizza, Pots & Pints, an award-winning pub concept based around artisan pizzas, warm terracotta pots and delicious beer, is set to re-open and breathe new life into the Radcliffe Arms. The collection of pubs, owned by Bedfordshire’s Charles Wells brewery, will reopen the new-look Radcliffe Arms on Walsworth Road in October.
This will be the fourth Pizza, Pots and Pints in the region and as Director, Craig Mayes, says, the team are excited to give the Radcliffe Arms a new lease of life: “We’ve been watching with interest as the local community have fought to successfully save their local pub, the Radcliffe Arms, and we are committed to making sure it remains a pub.
“Mark and Nicky Craven must be applauded for the great deal of time and money they have invested in trying to make the pub a success, running a pub is a difficult and complex challenge in the current market. We believe that with further significant investment we can secure the pub’s future as a successful and vibrant Pizza, Pots & Pints. The funds we recoup from planning permission will be ploughed back into the business to fund the six-figure sum we must spend on the pub to secure its future not only for us but for the local community.
“Hitchin is already well known as a great place to eat and drink, so bringing artisan pizzas, home cooked pots, and locally brewed beer to the town will give foodies something new and exciting to literally get their teeth into.”
And it’s the mix of high quality food and drink and community spirit between staff and guests that Craig says is the winning formula: “Everything we do is lovingly handmade by our talented chefs and suppliers from our freshly made artisan pizzas, cooked onsite in our wood-fired ovens, and warming terracotta pots of comfort food like mac ‘n’ cheese, to pints of fresh Bedfordshire-brewed beer.
“On top of this, our local community is very important to us. We host events and menu deals designed to suit our guests, whether that’s 2-4-1 Mondays, Fat Tuesdays or Live Music on a Friday, there will always be something happening at The Radcliffe Arms that the people of Hitchin can be a part of. Pizza, Pots and Pints is all about great food and drink that can be shared in a fun, friendly place.”
With the opening of the new look Radcliffe Arms, comes more jobs for Hitchin too. Full and part time openings are available for excellent people to join the crew as chefs, kitchen staff, front of house or bar staff. Pizza, pots and Pints don’t just offer jobs, they offer careers, so anyone interested should call 07866 934462 or email careers@PizzaPotsandPints.co.uk to find out more!
Pizza, Pots & Pints currently run the Salisbury Arms in Cambridge which was voted Cambridge’s Best Pub and the Old White Horse, Baldock. The team are also busy gearing up for their third venue opening in Peterborough in August.
